Back in April, I applied for the Hudson Perinatal Doula Fellowship Program annnnnnd…
[drumroll]
I GOT IN! OOOOOOOWWW!
What is a doula?
I consider a doula to be an all-encompassing assistant and advocate for an expectant mother and her family. A doula counsels an expectant mother in asking questions at prenatal medical visits, creating healthy food choices, sharing stress reduction practices and being a resource for other social, emotional and physical needs. During labor, a doula helps comfort the laboring woman and once the bundle of joy arrives, a doula is there for breastfeeding assistance and to empower the family through the transition.
The fellowship covers the ENTIRE cost of the doula training program and includes assistance in becoming nationally certified.
I’m all kinds of excited because becoming a doula is one part of my Project 9 to 5 Freedom. More details on that later.
The training doesn’t start until November so folks, pause on the baby making until I’m certified!
