A HANDS DOWN MUST SEE!

Focus Features has done it again! The trailer for the documentary “Babies” was delivered to my inbox this morning and I spent all 2:25 minutes of it with my mouth wide open, clapping uncontrollably. The film follows the lives of four babies – Bayarjargal in Mongolia, Ponijao in Namibia, Hattie in San Francisco, and Mari inTokyo – from first breath to their first step.

Take a look at the trailer, after the jump, and then try to tell me it doesn’t pull at your heartstrings.

Trust me, I will be first in line when the doc premieres this year, during Mother’s Day weekend. Not only are the babies ridiculously adorable – especially Ponijao and Bayarjargal – but the cinematography is breathtaking.

Though I’m not ready to have any of my own, I absolutely love, love, LOVE babies. In fourth grade, I swore that I would have two to three children the natural way and then I would adopt seven more – one from each continent. Yeeeeeeah…I’m glad I no longer think like a fourth grader.

I am also fascinated with the entire miracle of reproduction. That is why I’m stacking my dollars and praying that I can afford to participate in a doula training with the International Center for Traditioanl Childbearing . What I love about the ICTC is that it’s an African centered organization that infuses traditions from Africa, the Caribbean, and the “Deep South” into their work. Who knows, once I become a doula I may even consider getting into midwifery.

If the trailer wasn’t enough for you, here are few stills from the movie. Try not to drool and coo too much. I know it’s hard, I can’t resist either.

Does seeing the trailer and pics not do anything for you? If so, why not? Are you ready to have children? How do you know? Do you want to wait to have children? Do you not want children at all?

honestly, i feel like everyday is an hourly struggle for me on whether or not i’m ready to have babies… which really means that i’m def NOT ready!! but gawd these babies are cute!! i’m starting to hear my maternal clock tick, tick, ticking but i really need it to wait like another year or so… or at least until Kat becomes a doula! LOL. thanks for sharing this homie.

  5. I’m really not the type to go googoo gaga over babies but these little ones are too precious. Being in my late 20s, sometimes I feel like I should hop on the baby wagon, but in no way am I ready. I really can’t even be sure if I want children…
