These are the People I Come From…

For six days, after the earthquake in Haiti, Junette, was trapped beneath the rubble of a bank. Immediately, once she is rescued, Junette begins to sing praises to the Creator. When asked if she knew she would survive she says, “Why not?”

Uncontrollable tears are streaming down my face for the unrelenting love that Junette’s husband has for her, he refused to believe she was dead; for Junette and her husband’s faith in something greater than the both of them; for the countless others who have died and for the fact that these are the people I come from – faithful, beautiful and resilient.
